Research
- Support academic research and scholarship to increase the understanding of the historic and contemporary contributions to craft, creativity and design in America.
- Support research by regional and national colleges and universities to increase the amount of and improve the quality of student and faculty studies on [craft and design] arts and cultural issues.
- Attract funding to promote programs in craft, creativity and design.
Education
- Provide technical multimedia support for content design and delivery of digital learning about craft, creativity and design for learners of all ages.
- Support collaborative residency programs to: bring internationally recognized artists to the region; support international residencies for regional artists; and support regional corporate and community artist residencies.
- Provide internship opportunities for students.
- Support regional and national meetings, conferences and symposia that will expand recognition of the craft leadership in North Carolina.
- Be a catalyst for program collaboration between faculty of University of North Carolina regional universities and colleges, with regional organizations and artists.
Community Collaboration
- Develop a digital multimedia archive of collaborative projects where artists have contributed in addressing community issues.
- Provide logistical and technical support for community collaborative projects that address community issues through a cross-disciplinary approach that includes [craft/design] artists.
- Support site-based collaborative residencies that demonstrate the success of cross-disciplinary creative problem solving.
- Expand the interpretive and public art opportunities of the Rudnick Nature Trail in collaboration with adjacent neighbors, community groups, university representatives.
