Goals

Research

  1. Support academic research and scholarship to increase the understanding of the historic and contemporary contributions to craft, creativity and design in America.
  2. Support research by regional and national colleges and universities to increase the amount of and improve the quality of student and faculty studies on [craft and design] arts and cultural issues.
  3. Attract funding to promote programs in craft, creativity and design.

Education

  1. Provide technical multimedia support for content design and delivery of digital learning about craft, creativity and design for learners of all ages.
  2. Support collaborative residency programs to: bring internationally recognized artists to the region; support international residencies for regional artists; and support regional corporate and community artist residencies.
  3. Provide internship opportunities for students.
  4. Support regional and national meetings, conferences and symposia that will expand recognition of the craft leadership in North Carolina.
  5. Be a catalyst for program collaboration between faculty of University of North Carolina regional universities and colleges, with regional organizations and artists.

Community Collaboration

  1. Develop a digital multimedia archive of collaborative projects where artists have contributed in addressing community issues.
  2. Provide logistical and technical support for community collaborative projects that address community issues through a cross-disciplinary approach that includes [craft/design] artists.
  3. Support site-based collaborative residencies that demonstrate the success of cross-disciplinary creative problem solving.
  4. Expand the interpretive and public art opportunities of the Rudnick Nature Trail in collaboration with adjacent neighbors, community groups, university representatives.
