Mixed Media Exhibition - September 27th - December 3rd
The mountains of Western North Carolina contain the fourth largest concentration of craft artists in the country. Such a large number of extremely talented creative people often leads to the sharing of ideas and media among artists. WNC is no exception to the phenomenon, and the efforts of this creative melting pot produce extraordinary works of art. In celebration of works of this nature, The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design proudly announces its fall Mixed Media Exhibition. The Opening Reception will be held at the Center on October 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
This exhibition, which runs from September 27th- December 3rd, contains pieces by the finest local craftsmen with faculty and students of the threee University of North Carolina mountain campuses. The array of media includes glass works, wood sculptures, printmaking, clay and paper and is sure to please any art lover.
Featured Artists Include:
Rob Levin- internationally exhibited and collected glass artist showing sculptures of wood and glass that explore the world of tension and balance.
Kathy Triplett- also internationally exhibited and collected, Kathy's whimsical teapots explore the mysteries of clay from every angle.
Dan Essig-a book-maker and sculptor, Dan's work combines the ancient practices of book making with the marvels of modern sculpture practices.
Stoney Lamar-A North Carolina native, Stoney uses a multi-axis approach to wood sculpting that has garnered him the national spotlight as one of the best wood workers in the country. His balanced, asymmetrical pieces create a visage of unique beauty and personal vision.
